The luminous sea covers the entire southwestern part of the world map. This area has a very high radiation level. This means that you must prepare well before starting the mission of killing Virgil. You can fight the radiation in three different ways. The easiest way is to supply large stocks of Rad-X and RadAway chemicals. Rad-X temporarily increases radiation resistance, and RadAway allows you to get rid of the radiation you have already received. These chemicals do not provide stable, long-term protection. During the trip, you will have to use a large amount of them and move in a straight line to the target in order to maximize the time.

The second way to neutralize radiation is to get a Hazmat suit. This costume can be found in the game world (for example, in the Cambridge Polymer Labs location) or purchased from some merchants. If you choose the second option, the easiest way is to go to the Diamond City Market and visit Fallon's basement store. In the basement, you can trade with Becky Fallon, and her offer includes, among other things, a Hazmat costume.

Using a Hazmat suit gives you one important disadvantage - it has no other protective values. This means that you can easily die if you are attacked by monsters or bandits. Because of this, you will have to move through the Glowing Sea more slowly and stay away from any potential threats.

The third way, by far the best, is to use a Power Suit. The suit doesn't give you 100% radiation protection, but it does provide enough protection to avoid regular RadAway use. Unlike the Hazmat costume, you don't have to worry about whether you'll be helpless when monsters attack you. In addition, the Power Suit increases the overall protection level. If you still have the costume from the very beginning of the game (the one you had after the first encounter with the Minutemen), you can use it. Otherwise, purchase a new one in any way convenient for you, for example, by visiting the robotics recycling location shown in Figure 1 (there is a suit on the road south of the recycling site).
