Essential Communication Skills for Lactation Professionals Lecture Pack

Communication skills are of critical importance in health care, and they are called "skills" for a reason. Communication techniques can be learned and practiced to help improve your ability to communicate effectively with both clients and colleagues. This package has been put together with the new IBLCE requirements for communication skills in mind, and provides focused education on communication skills for lactation and other healthcare professionals. Offering 5 hours of continuing education, this add-on lecture pack has been approved for 5 CERPs (5 R-CERPs), 5 CMEs, 5 Nurse Contact Hour, 0.5 MEAC Midwifery CEUs (equivalent to 5 NARM CEUs).

Lactation and Adversity: Addressing Challenges with Confidence Lecture Pack

Lactation professionals are well versed in supporting infant feeding in the context of clinical techniques for improving latch and positioning, increasing milk production etc. It is crucial for care providers to also know how to respond when infant feeding issues are complicated by other factors. How do we help in the face of parental trauma, gender dysphoria, past abuse, homelessness, nursing aversion or other psychosocial or physical challenges? These situations can be difficult for a client to feel safe expressing and require a higher level of clinical skill for the practitioner. This package was designed to provide an in-depth look at some of these situations so that care providers are able to approach them with more skill and confidence. Offering 6 hours of continuing education, this add-on lecture pack is approved for 6 CERPs (6 L-CERPs), 6 CMEs, 6 Nurse Contact Hours, 6 Dietetic CPEUs and 0.6 MEAC Midwifery CEUs (equivalent to 6 NARM CEUs).

Translating Knowledge Into Practice: Creating Effective Lactation Care Plans Lecture Pack

A lactation care plan serves several purposes. It provides the client with reminders about what was discussed during the visit with their care provider, what steps they should be following at home and when to follow up. For the care provider, the care plan helps to document care and also serves as a means to encourage collaboration and continuity of care. In short, an effective care plan is an essential tool for lactation professionals. This package provides a look at common clinical situations and each presentation provides a detailed look at how to put a plan in place, when to follow up and how to adjust the care plan as things evolve.
