Biography:

I am a mom to seven children, all of whom have had their time ‘at the tit.’ Some longer than others (3+ years);  two are still little nurslings.  I think all together I have nursed for roughly 12 years—almost continuously!  I am blessed that my mothering and my cause of choice intersect with breastfeeding; grounded in this perspective (and certainly under the calming influence of oxytocin) I earned my Ed.D., work as an adjunct professor and am a candidate for certification as a breastfeeding counselor with BreastfeedingUSA.  Being an active, living supporter/advocate of breastfeeding and sharing my desire to transform American culture into one that values mothering and supports breastfeeding—not as the ‘other’ form of infant feeding but as the social and cultural norm for infants-- remains my primary motivation.
