Biography:

Indira Lopez-Bassols has dedicated the past 17 years to the fields of birth and breastfeeding. Over the last 5 consecutive years, she has assumed the leadership role at the Specialist Breastfeeding Clinic within the Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust, focusing on complex breastfeeding dyads. Her efforts have led the clinic to receive the prestigious 2023 IBCLC Community-Based Care Award, and they have achieved UNICEF BFI Stage 3 accreditation.

For the past 13 years, Indira has been instrumental in training and mentoring future IBCLCs from around the world through her Breastfeeding London Course. This comprehensive course is delivered through various formats, including in-person, online, and hybrid modes. Serving as the Director of the Centre for Breastfeeding Education and Research, Indira has contributed to leading international peer-reviewed breastfeeding journals and currently holds the position of a peer-reviewer.

In her current academic pursuit, Indira is engaged in Doctoral research in Nursing and Midwifery within the Mother and Infant Research Unit at the University of Dundee. Her research focus centers on breastfeeding education for healthcare providers and the intricate interplay between learning needs and motivation.

In her voluntary capacity, Indira has dedicated 15 years of service as a La Leche League (LLL) leader, further emphasizing her commitment to supporting breastfeeding mothers and families.
