Abstract:

Breast abscesses that occur during breastfeeding/chestfeeding are a relatively rare complication. However, they can significantly affect and permanently impair the dyad. In this lecture, we will discuss the causes, diagnosis and treatment of lactational abscesses, and ways to prevent them. In addition to the more common causes of abscesses during lactation, we will also discuss rarer forms such as idiopathic granulomatous mastitis or tuberculosis of the breast and their treatment.
The necessary examination methods and therapeutic options must also be adapted to the specific characteristics of breastfeeding/chestfeeding.
