Dr. Bridgette Chelf, D.C.
- Country: USA
Biography:
Dr. Bridgette Chelf began her career in the healthcare field in the early 1980’s in the Physical Therapy Department of Scripps Clinic in California. Early on, Dr. Chelf was fortunate enough to gain work experience in the in-patient, out-patient, and sports rehab areas. Then she moved to Los Angeles, originally intending to get a Masters in Physical Therapy after finishing her Bachelors degree. At that time, she worked with six surgeons doing rehabilitation; one of the physical therapists there was also a chiropractor. She thought “What a great combination!” After finishing her Bachelors at Mount Saint Mary’s College, Dr. Chelf went on to chiropractic school.
Post graduation in 1994, Dr. Chelf moved back to San Diego, worked with established chiropractors to fine-tune her skills. While working for these chiropractors, she realized what she did not want in her practice – which was to spend three minutes with a patient and run from room to room. With her physical therapy background and firm belief in bio-mechanics, ergonomics, strengthening and stretching, Dr. Chelf still felt there was a deeper component missing.
After doing some research and talking to fellow practitioners, she learned about craniosacral work. In 1997 Dr. Chelf attended her first craniosacral class while pregnant with her son. She received treatment at that time, fell in love with the modality and has been taking classes ever since. When time allows, Dr. Chelf travels working as a Teaching Assistant for the Upledger Institute, sharing her deep felt enthusiasm for healing with craniosacral therapy . Craniosacral therapy has changed the way Dr. Chelf practices and has helped to define her as an exceptionally gifted and versatile practitioner. Ninety-nine% of her practice is female and children, and half of that is infants under 3 months old.
Dr. Chelf has completed the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, (ICPA), 300 hour course in pediatrics and family practice. She is also certified in the Webster technique. Dr. Chelf is currently enrolled in the Intersect4Life Master's Elite Mentorship Program; an advanced study in Functional Medicine and Functional Neurology. She really loves expanding her knowledge to give the best patient care possible.
Dr. Chelf resides in North County San Diego. She lives with her husband David, 2 children- Chloe and Grant and 2 dogs- Carly and Tucker.
